The number of hours spent lying in bed
seoulful:
is directly correlated with the amount of fun that was had in Hongdae last night.
This is very true, and I’m glad you had fun! :)
I woke up at 4 today, after an amazingly fun night.
First, I met some Gangnam friends for fried chicken and beer then we headed up to Hongdae. Of course, the bar I was planning on going to has been shut down so we all just met at a cheap and empty...

winter vacation!
Last night began my much-needed week off. I went over to Jaclynn’s, where she, her friend Sam, and I finished off three bottles of wine and nine episodes of the Sarah Silverman Program. Then today, I woke up and came home to quickly make myself look normal before meeting Jessica and Kelly for Butterfingers (amazing breakfast food) in Apgujeong. We ended up hanging out there for around...

똥머리
– This is what a student said about my hair on Friday. ”Poop hair.” I wore it up in a bun, so I guess it did look like a nice little pile of poo. Koreans and their love of poop…

this is a birthday post
After living in Korea, I forget that I turn a year older (in the Western world) on my birthday. Here, everyone turns a year older on January 1st (and are born 1 year old), so on New Year’s Day I turned 26. And today I turn 25 in America. So it always takes several seconds to figure out how old I am whenever someone asks, as if remembering one age weren’t hard enough..!

things i got today:
- A letter from my grandma. I am always shocked to hear that people my age have grandparents who own computers and cell phones. ”Wait, your grandma doesn’t write you letters?”
- A package from my mom. Inside were various trip things I requested: fast-drying travel towel, antibacterial wet wipes, Lush shampoo bars, etc., PLUS lots of home-made food. At the bottom was a box...

11 Secrets for Winning at Rock Paper Scissors →
This could be very useful in a country where 90% of disputes are solved by playing a quick game of RPS (or 가위바위보 “kai bai bo” as it’s called here). I realized quick that this is the only fair way to settle anything in class—even though it is more or less random who wins, it gives the students a chance to feel like they have some part in the decision-making process....

saturday fun day
Yesterday I met up with Jessica in Hongdae, and we ended up having quite a fun time. First, we were on a mission to find a bar for the next Tumblr meet-up and as we were walking around we found a super cute and tiny cupcake shop. So we got some for my and Kelly’s mini birthday celebration that would be happening later.
Yum.
Then we ate Taco Bell, yum, and went to this little...

cebu pacific air sale!!!
I bought my ticket to Boracay a few days ago and JUST found out that Cebu Pacific Air is having a huge sale, so if I had waited a couple days I could have saved over 100,000 won. Boo! But I used this opportunity to score a $22 domestic Philippines flight and a $34 trip from Manila to Borneo.
So if any of you might be headed to the Philippines for Lunar New Year or anytime before March...

The only good thing about this cold weather/crazy intensives schedule is that I’m saving mad money since all I wanna do is lay in bed. I should have $300 leftover from this month’s spending money, which is insane (previous surpluses haven’t been more than ~$100). It makes me feel a little less freaked-out, phew.
I feel like I’ll have so many expenses these next few...

korean help
I’ve been asking all the Koreans I know to help me find the right translation for a word, but it’s been hard coming to a consensus for some reason.
The word is: oneness/unity. As in, “the state of being unified or whole, though comprised of many parts.” As in, oneness among people.
I’ve obviously looked on Google Translate and Word Reference, but would like a...

my first day of 2011
Was spent sleeping until 5, laying in bed telling people on gchat how badly I wanted Taco Bell, finally getting up around 8 to shower and attempt to get to HBC around 9 to celebrate Ally’s and Noel’s birthdays. Got to HBC for beef galbi only a little late, ate a lot (it was delicious), went to Vent in Hongdae, drank, still wanted Taco Bell so made Jeremy accompany me there before it...
